Lindfield Dramatic Club

Presents a comedy by Alan Ayckbourn

Ten Times Table

Thu Oct 31, Fri Nov 1, Sat Nov 2 at 8.00pm

at the King Edward Hall, Lindfield

The leading lights of the village have decided to hold a pageant of history based on a somewhat vague local event ‘The Massacre of the Pendon Twelve’. A committee is formed to plan the event, but there is a young left wing teacher on the committee who decides to turn it into a rally for proletarian revolution. Committee meetings become symbolic battlefields for conflicting views, and the event turns into amusing cataclysmic results.

Wivelesfield Little Theatre present

by Gerald Sibleyras based on his play ‘Les Vent des Peupliers’ translated
and adapted by Tom Stoppard.
It is 1959. In a residential home for veterans of the First World War, somewhere in France, Gustav, Henri and Philippe sit on their terrace and gaze at the poplar trees in the distance. Frustrated, bored and scared of the formidable Sister Madeline they plan their escape. Will it be French Indochina, will it be a picnic under the distant poplars? Will it be today or tomorrow? Will it happen at all?

The play is based on Sibleyras’s discovery that veterans of the First World War were often retired at relatively young ages, often living-out the remainder of their lives in French military hospitals – in some cases for 30 years or more. His play takes a kind of ‘snapshot’ of the daily lives of three of these veterans. There is a gentle humour about the play as these three discuss their fellow inmates and the machinations of the Nuns who look after them. We promise a funny and reflective evening.

The Box Office for our Autumn production is now open tickets are £9.50 – to choose your seat(s) click on

Production dates are Thursday 31st October to Sat 2nd November. Curtain up at 7.30pm bar open from 7pm at Wivelsfield Village Hall, Eastern Road, Wivelsfield Green

Ditchling Players present Noel Coward’s

Private Lives

from Weds 20 – Sat 23rd November 2019

Noël Coward’s elegant and often bitingly funny comedy of manners, gives a wonderful insight into the marital politics and sexual etiquette of the 1930s.  Elyot and Amanda, divorced for five years and honeymooning in adjacent hotel suites in the south of France with new partners, are shocked to discover their proximity to one another and having done so, what then follows veers from the comic to the often poignant at break neck speed.  Perhaps not as popular with Amateur Dramatic groups as other Coward pieces such as Blithe Spirit and Hay Fever, it demands so much of the four players involved, the dialogue is nevertheless vintage Coward requiring merely the deftest of touches to bring it into sharp relief and provide superb theatre.
