84 Charing Cross Road

We are sorry to say that 84 Charing Cross Road has been replaced as our spring 2018 production.   We still hope to stage the play at a later date but after discussion it was felt that this season’s play should be more upbeat and auditions are now being called for the comedy If I Were You.

84 Charing Cross Road  is the hit play about the correspondence between a young struggling writer in New York and an antiquarian book seller in London. Covering the shared love of good literature as well as business and friendship the action is set over a twenty year period, from 1949 to 1969.

Adapted by Hugh Whitemore from Helene Hanff’s book of letters based on her twenty-year correspondence between with Frank Doel, chief buyer of Marks & Co antiquarian booksellers in London.
