CDS works to try and educate and develop its members’ skills in the performing arts by sharing experience in productions, as well as mentoring people in different roles on and off stage. We also run some simple free educational events at social nights or at subsidised training sessions which started with our 2016 Summer School on acting techniques lead by David Corbett.
At Easter 2017 we held some hands on technical training workshops with a stage lighting workshop.
We hope to hold a more tech sessions both for actor/directors (what can you get out of it) and for the technically inclined including on “sound for the stage” at a later date. Unfortunately our resources don’t permit that in 2018.
Putting On A Show
We are also hold some free seminars at social nights such as “How To Produce a Play” at a past social evening on which looked at the roles and steps that need to be carried out off stage for a sucessful show!
Some useful supporting material for self study from past club nights can be found here
